This position will represent the global corporate affairs functions in EMEA region to include Policy, Government and Public Affairs (PGPA) and Corporate Communications. The Senior Manager will support the specific strategic priority of building relationships with key stakeholders and the development of key messages and content in partnership with the SVP Region Head of EMEA, the SVP of Corporate Communications and the Executive Director for Patient Advocacy EMEA. Engage with key external thought partners, leaders, policy makers, trade association and patient advocacy leaders on behalf of Ultragenyx and support compliant exchange of complex scientific information related to Ultragenyx areas of research, product development and commercialization.
Work Model:Remote: Officially documented as working full-time from home, with travel to Ultragenyx's offices or other locations on occasion as needed.
Responsibilities:
- Manage Ultragenyx relationships and activities with relevant external industry leaders, policy makers, patient advocate leaders, and local media as part of implementing the EMEA External Stakeholder Plan.
- Work closely with Head of EMEA at regional level and local GMs at country level to understand local dynamics, identify opportunities for representation and sharing our voice at key panels/meetings and ensure alignment to our global and regional strategies.
- Manage the trade association memberships, renewals and sponsorship opportunities on behalf of the Policy, Government and Public Affairs team, including coordination sponsorship efforts to include customized ads, speaker packets and logo placements.
- Manage Ultragenyx relationships and activities with relevant policy stakeholders including key members of the European Commission and European Parliament.
- Participate in key industry trade association meetings and US Chamber of Commerce Councils regarding rare disease and orphan drug policy positions (including diagnosis, development and access), and identify opportunities for leadership to be engaged in key discussions.
- Monitor key legislation in Europe, and work closely with the internal Global Policy Committee to ensure alignment with key messages.
- Represent Ultragenyx and serve as the primary press contact with rare disease communities and media in Europe, in coordination with global corporate communications; monitor press coverage in EMEA regarding rare disease innovation and access and distribute internally.
- Partner with global internal communications to elevate the patient voice and experience internally in support of Ultragenyx's patient-focused approach and culture.
- Provide alignment with global and regional strategies, identify challenges and opportunities, challenge local thinking to ensure we achieve excellence and give guidance and support as relevant.
- Ensure compliance with all internal and external guidelines.
