Job Description
Position Summary

The Sales Engineer – BPS (South 1 Region) is responsible for:

  • Sales and market development
  • Customer management
  • Distributor development and Management
  • Key account management
  • New business development
  • Cross-functional coordination (Operations, CSD & Finance)
  • Receivables management

Key Responsibilities

Sales & Marketing

  • Achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets for the South 1 region.
  • Drive sales planning, budgeting, and forecasting (Sales Plans, Inventory, NOD).
  • Execute sales and marketing strategies effectively within assigned territory.
  • Prepare timely weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual sales reports.
  • Lead commercial negotiations with customers and partners.
  • Plan and execute region-specific marketing activities, product demos, seminars, and technical sessions.
  • Track competitor activities, pricing, product offerings, and new developments.
  • Collect and analyse market intelligence to support strategic decisions.

Customer Management

  • Manage, retain, and grow existing customers.
  • Identify potential customers and expansion opportunities across biopharma, pharma, biotech, and allied industries.
  • Build strong relationships with process engineers, procurement teams, production heads, and KOLs.

Distributor/Channel Management

  • Manage, support, and expand distributors in the South 1 region.
  • Ensure adequate stock levels, timely replenishment, and distributor development.

New Business Development

  • Expand business in uncovered regions or new application areas within the South 1 zone.
  • Drive revenue from new product lines, new applications, and cross-selling opportunities.

Cross-Functional Coordination

  • Work closely with Application Engineers, Operations and CSD teams to ensure timely customer support.
  • Coordinate for order fulfilment, product trials, validation activities, and complaint resolution.

Receivables Management

  • Ensure timely payment collection as per agreed terms.
  • Monitor customer outstanding and support credit control processes.

Qualifications

  • B.Tech/M.Sc/M.Tech in Biotechnology/Microbiology/Bioprocess Technology/Industrial Biotechnology/Pharmaceutical Sciences or any equivalent degree and major.
  • Experience:2–6 years in Sales - bioprocessing, pharmaceutical manufacturing, single-use systems, or related Technical sales.

Skills

Functional Skills

  • Strong understanding of biopharmaceutical manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to understand and demonstrate Saint-Gobain’s product portfolio technically and commercially.
  • Good knowledge of the South 1 region, territory dynamics, and customer base.
  • Strong relationships with key customers, influencers, and decision-makers.
  • Technical acumen to support basic tests, trials, and application discussions.
  • Prior experience in selling biopharma/medical/industrial fluid-management products.
