- Ensure appropriate clinical documentation is captured to meet national registry guidelines and regulatory requirements
- Review patient diagnosis, treatment, and outcomes across the care continuum as a Cancer Registry content expert
- Complete ongoing longitudinal follow-up to meet national regulatory requirements
- Conduct case finding, abstracting, and follow-up data entry in compliance with national, state, and accreditation standards
- Alert leadership of potential discrepancies in documentation or care variation
- High School Diploma or equivalent with at least 1 year of experience
- Certification as an Oncology Data Specialist
- Minimum of 1 year working as an Oncology Data Specialist or 3 years of cancer registry abstraction experience
- Associate degree in Healthcare or Health Information Management
- Strong understanding of complex medical conditions and surgical procedures
- Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare or Health Information Management
- 2 years of abstracting experience in a Commission on Cancer (CoC) approved Cancer Program
- Experience working in a quaternary care hospital system
- Experience in a multi-campus healthcare system
