Job Description
Chapin Hall is seeking a Senior Researcher to lead the design and execution of rigorous evidence reviews and analysis to inform decision-making by public and private child-serving agencies and policymakers. We seek to hire an individual who shares our core values and standards for designing, conducting, and translating high quality research intended to improve quality of life, well-being, and outcomes for children, youth, and families. Chapin Hall seeks to improve the evidence base; inform decision making at the federal, state, and local levels; support the design and testing of interventions; enable faithful implementation and adaptation; develop innovative means of leveraging administrative data to inform systems change; and address racial inequities in child and family-serving systems.
The Senior Researcher’s primary responsibilities include: serving as project director for multiple projects at a time, facilitating meetings, designing and conducting systematic reviews, scoping reviews, integrative literature reviews, rapid literature reviews, and meta-analyses, participating in research and policy team discussions, conducting analyses of quantitative and qualitative data, consulting to the development of technological applications, and translating research findings into actionable policy guidance. Other tasks include guiding analysts in analytic tasks, assisting with protocol development and IRB submissions, and writing sections of project proposals, reports and helping produce other project deliverables.
Chapin Hall embraces a “Work from Anywhere” approach which offers flexible remote work from anywhere in the United States. Chapin Hall also offers in-person opportunities for staff to build: 1) connections, 2) team cohesion and creativity, and 3) a sense of belonging to the organization. All staff are expected to travel to and engage in a minimum of two annual 2-day “All Hall Convenings” featuring shared learning, teamwork, and fellowship. - Designs and conducts evidence reviews and analysis including, for example, systematic reviews, scoping reviews, integrative literature reviews, rapid reviews, and meta-analyses.
- Participates in research and policy team discussions.
- Contributes to the design and execution of quantitative, qualitative, or mixed methods research studies.
- Writes sections of project proposals.
- Automates existing and emerging processes for importing, documenting, integrating, and updating data as well as coding best practices such as code review and version control when conducting evidence reviews.
- Translates research and analytic findings into actionable evidence and implications for system planning and policymaking.
- Directs research and/or policy staff in evidence review tasks.
- Writes sections of research results.
- Develops and delivers presentations of findings to diverse audiences.
- Assists with Institutional Review Board submissions.
- Represents Chapin Hall and its research agenda and establishes important stakeholder relationships, especially with partner agencies.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
