Brief Description
This is an opportunity for an ambitious medical affairs professional with strong experience as a Final Medical Signatory to work within a high performing team supporting the development and execution of the Country Medical Affairs strategy and working with other functions to support the development, commercialization and life cycle management of Jazz Pharma Neuroscience products. The role will involve leading on high value medical affairs projects and therefore requires strong organizational and project management skills.
This Medical Manager role reports directly to the Neuroscience Medical Director.
The Jazz mission is to bring meaningful medicines to patients with high unmet need.
Neuroscience is a major strategic driver, with significant opportunities in current and future indications, making this role critical to the success of the organisation. As a key member of the UK and Ireland Medical Affairs team, the role will demand high levels of cross functional collaboration.
The incumbent has responsibility for ensuring all activities are executed in accordance with
regulatory and legal frameworks including but not limited to ABPI/ IPHA codes, MHRA, EFPIA, GCP and IFPMA regulations as well as Jazz Pharmaceuticals Policies and Healthcare compliance procedures.

Support of UK/Ire Medical Affairs Team
- Review and critically appraise scientific literature to provide support and advice to medical and marketing groups in developing strategy and tactical implementation plans.
- Work closely with the Associate Medical Director and the Medical Director to develop, implement, and execute the UK/Ire medical affairs plan.
- Ensure all KOL and educational activities are of a high scientific quality and relevance.
- Develop maintain a high level of knowledge of Neuroscience and related scientific literature in order to deliver as an expert in the field.
- Lead on the development of and maintain awareness of the competitive landscape and communicate intelligence to the medical and marketing team as appropriate.
- Support creation of training material and other scientific materials in collaboration with marketing and other appropriate internal stakeholders
- Provide medical/ scientific education and in-house training for MSLs and Key Account Managers and other appropriate staff, as agreed by MD.
- Have a strong ABPI code knowledge with a track record of approving pharmaceutical company materials and activities, as well as providing cross functional guidance and advice.
- Act as primary reviewer and/or approver of materials for compliance with the ABPI/IPHA Code(s) of Practice.
- Develop and implement the UK medical affairs product strategies aligned to agreed strategic imperatives and defined country needs.
- Monitor and track project progression with effective cross functional stakeholder communication, using established project management processes.
- Support the development of publication plans covering country/regional data generation needs.
- Facilitate and support investigators, who wish to conduct investigator sponsored, collaborative or Jazz sponsored studies in line with Jazz strategy.
- Support the approval and implementation of these projects in line with relevant pharmaceutical regulations and Jazz SOPs as appropriate.
- Support the development and execution of any study plans to provide data to support the portfolio of Jazz Neuroscience products in phase III-IV, RWE, observational and pharmaco-economic studies, where appropriate.
- Develop meaningful collaborative relationships with Key Opinion Leaders thereby supporting development of Jazz positioning as the scientific authority in Neurology, specifically Epilepsy.
- Support the MSL team in developing KOL advocacy through the provision of relevant scientific and clinical information.
- Deliver non-promotional clinical/scientific presentations relating to Jazz’s portfolio and its development or differentiation as required.
- Attend appropriate scientific congresses to stay abreast of developments.
- Ability to critically analyse complex data.
- Clear and concise communication and presentation skills.
- Excellent planning and organisational skills.
- Confident use of IT equipment (with contingency planning), for delivery of F2F in person and F2F remote interactions.
- Clear, structured communication and presentation skills.
- Engages actively with company IT systems, reporting tools and collaborative working tools to ensure compliant reporting, excellent record keeping and information sharing.
- Strong inter-personal relationship building skills/collaboration and teamwork.
- Experience of effectively working with cross-functional colleagues.
- Knowledge of Neuroscience market a distinct advantage.
- Experience developing and implementing Medical Affairs plans at a country level.
- Experience of working in a pharmaceutical company affiliate Medical Affairs role a distinct advantage.
- Demonstrated experience in leading on and delivering Medical Affairs projects a distinct advantage
- Experience in establishing strong influential relationships with academic societies and patient organisations a distinct advantage
- Excellent command of spoken and written English.
- Qualified and registered in the UK as a Pharmacist or Medical Doctor
- Demonstrated experience as an ABPI Final signatory
