Job Description
Premier Research is looking for a Associate Medical Coding Specialist/ Medical Coding Specialist (Contractor) to join our Functional Services Provider (FSP) team.

What You'll Be Doing
- Classify medical terms (e.g. – procedures, adverse events, medical history) by performing medical coding in one or more medical dictionaries, (e.g. - MedDRA, WHODrug, ICD9, ICD10, Snomed, BNF, or other) via the applicable coding tool (e.g. – Oracle Thesaurus Management System (TMS), ClinPlus, Rave Coder,
- Issue and manage queries where clarification is needed due to vague, inadequate, or ambiguous Case Report Form (CRF) data
- Ensure consistency of coding across projects and raise concerns to the supervisor or department manager for resolution
- Maintain a clinical understanding of medical terminology, clinical research development, adverse event reporting, and standardized dictionaries
- Serve as first line of support and subject matter expert to study teams regarding clinical trial coding
- Record issues, communication, and resolutions in a computer-based ticketing system as required
- Bachelor's degree, or international equivalent from an accredited institution, preferably in a clinical, biological, scientific, or health-related field, or equivalent combination of education, training and experience
- For Associate Medical Coding Specialist: 0 to 3 years of practical experience using commercial clinical data management systems or clinical coding tools (e.g. - Oracle TMS, Medidata Rave, Pace, ClinPlus, dsNavigator, iMedNet, IBM). Alternately, must have proven experience in all primary job functions
- For Medical Coding Specialist: 3 to 5 years of practical experience using commercial clinical data management systems or clinical coding tools (e.g. - Oracle TMS, Medidata Rave, Pace, ClinPlus, dsNavigator, iMedNet, IBM). Alternately, must have proven experience in all primary job functions
- Familiarity with drug development and clinical trial processes preferred
- Good familiarity with clinical/medical and/or pharmaceutical terminology required; familiarity with Latin medical terminology preferred
- Experience with coding dictionaries: MedDRA, WHODrug highly preferred
- Excellent computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment including proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite of tools (eg - Outlook, Work, Excel, etc)
