- Patient Assessment: Review medical history, conduct physical exams, and analyze lab results to determine anesthesia risk.
- Anesthesia Planning: Create tailored plans for various procedures (surgery, labor, critical care).
- Administration: Administer general, regional anesthesia, sedation, and analgesics.
- Monitoring: Continuously track vital signs (heart rate, blood pressure, oxygen) and adjust anesthesia levels.
- Airway Management: Perform intubation, ventilation, and extubation.
- Emergency Response: Handle adverse reactions, complications, and cardiac events (e.g., defibrillation).
- Post-Op Care: Manage pain and ensure safe recovery from anesthesia.
- Collaboration: Work with surgeons, nurses, and other staff.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate patient records and procedure details.
- Supervision: Oversee nurse anesthetists and technical staff.
Essential Qualifications & Skills
- Education: Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO).
- Certification: Board-certified in Anesthesiology.
- Licensure: Valid medical license.
- Skills: Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, manual dexterity, focus, stamina, and compassionate communication.
- Detail-oriented, meticulous, calm under pressure, empathetic, and a good team player.
