For U.S. locations that require disclosure of compensation, the starting base pay for this role is between $105,000 - $150,000. The actual base pay includes many factors, and is subject to change and modification in the future. This position may also be eligible for other types of compensation and benefits.

Responsibilities
Essential Functions & Accountabilities:
- Maintains demonstrated proficiency with all applicable Standard Operating Procedures.
- Performs quantitative sperm counts by microscopy.
- Determines volume, percent motility and total motile sperm per specimen.
- Calculates potential number of vials per specimen.
- Determines appropriate means of processing (ICI or IUI) each particular specimen.
- Calculates the amount of cryoextender that must be added to the specimen.
- Assesses sperm morphology using WHO criteria.
- Performs routine cryogenic procedures including vial transfers.
- Performs phlebotomy, desired not required.
- Processes and prepares blood and urine specimens for transport to reference laboratories.
- Reviews reference lab testing and follows up on positive results or discrepancies.
- Trains new processing technicians.
- Manages laboratory schedule to provide adequate coverage, including tank checks.
- Leads and documents lab meetings on a regular basis.
- Conducts and accurately records all required quality control checks and takes corrective action as needed.
- Assures routine maintenance of laboratory equipment is performed at defined intervals.
- Assures routine validation of laboratory and cryogenic equipment is performed at defined intervals.
- Abides by all quality assurance/quality control, standard operating, and safety procedures.
- Reviews and signs off on potential donor specimen evaluations.
- Reviews and approves invoices.
- Covers for Branch Manager as needed.
- Assists with donor qualification and eligibility determination processes by reviewing potential donor applications and specimen quality; reviewing all Panel A and Panel C+ results and appropriately following-up on questionable, positive and/or discrepant results; consulting with medical director, donor coordinators and donors; compiling laboratory-related pre-qualification documents and completing interim eligibility assessments; prepares Authorization to Release vials according to Standard Operating Procedures in a timely fashion.
- Maintains an efficient operation by ensuring that adequate staffing is available, supplies are stocked and
- replenished as needed, and inventory is stored according to manufacturer instructions.
- Monitors, updates, and maintains all laboratory documentation, including laboratory staff training records and quality control records.
- Ensures that competency assessments and preventative maintenance are performed and reviewed according to company Standard Operating Procedures.
- Manages laboratory biorepository to ensure that all vials are appropriately stored and transferred to long-term storage in a timely fashion.
- Ensures that donor blood draws are done in a timely fashion, within the laboratory or at remote locations if necessary, according to Standard Operating Procedures.
- Maintains demonstrated proficiency in specimen processing and phlebotomy duties.
- Maintains a safe, secure, and clean work environment by assuring that facility is maintained (i.e., housekeeping services are employed, building is secure, biohazardous waste is removed, safety issues are addressed, and biorepository monitoring is functioning appropriately).

- Bachelor's degree (BA or BS) in science and a minimum of 5-7 years related laboratory experience.
- Language Skills:
- Ability to speak and write English; communicate effectively and professionally with clients and external contacts; read and interpret documents, such as procedure manuals; write routine reports and correspondence; and effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to clients and employees.
- Mathematical Skills:
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals and to compute rate, ratio and percent.
- Reasoning Ability:
- Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form and deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Computer Skills:
- Knowledge of MS Word and Excel
- Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
- Phlebotomy experience desired, not required.
- Other Skills and Abilities:
- Phase-contrast microscopy skills; excellent customer service skills; strong attention to details; ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously; high level of interpersonal skills to interact with peers and management; excellent organizational skills; ability to maintain confidentiality; and ability to travel desired not required.
- Other Qualifications:
- Familiarity with laboratory and medical terminology; training in the handling of liquid nitrogen.
