Our client is an innovative, privately owned company that develops, manufactures and markets a complete range of epoxy, polyurethane and polyaspartic coatings specially designed for flooring surfaces. Headquartered in Canada, the company has experienced tremendous growth and is part of the prestigious Canada Growth list.

Job Description

The company no wish to hire an experienced chemist to help expand the US business US at a new facility to be established. The position will be responsible for developing complete floor coatings systems and optimizing their performance before their launch to market.

This work will include, amongst others, research and development, execution and supervision of ASTM tests, development of quality control procedures as well as execution of administrative tasks. The role will develop new concrete coating product technologies that can complement existing products in order to create the most efficient and performing floor coatings systems.

The role will report to the RD Director and be based in the US (location is flexible TBD).

Job Requirements

You must have a minimum of 10 years of experience in the polymer chemistry sector for floor coatings. Please do not apply unless you have at least this experience.

• A university education in chemistry, bachelor’s or higher
• Carry out research and product development projects on your own and with the help of technicians
• Strong technical and project management skills, proven through successful completion of multiple RD programs.
• Knowledge and understanding of interactions and performance of raw materials in coating formulations
• Experience with complete floor coatings systems (multi layers) is highly preferred
• Knowledge and technical operation of ASTM testing equipment to measure yellowing, abrasion, elongation, tension force, impact resistance, coefficient of friction, etc.
• Knowledge of industry standards relating to laboratory management, including the safe use, storage and disposal of chemicals
• Master software related to production and design, and software specific to laboratory activities
• Entrepreneurial profile oriented towards problem solving
• Great autonomy and ability to work independently
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
• Ability to approach problems differently, adapt to change quickly.
• Temperament focused on results and action.
• Administrative rigor, attention to detail, sense of organization.
• Sense of initiative, ability to develop systems already in place, continuous improvement
