Job Description

We are seeking an experienced leader to join our European management team. As a Head of Field Application Science for Europe, you will shape and drive central initiatives that improve our customer experience, while playing a pivotal role in growing our business across the region.

You Will

  • Represent Sony Biotechnology at key scientific conferences, tradeshows, and events, showcasing our innovative solutions and engaging with industry leaders.
  • Manage and coach the European Field Application Science team, ensuring they deliver high-quality scientific support across Europe. You'll cultivate a high-performing team, encouraging continuous growth and development. This will include conduct performance appraisals, provide strategic coaching, and lead initiatives that promote team growth and teamwork as well as oversee expense management and travel approval.
  • Review Regional Employee Involvement Survey results and drive the development of action plans to improve employee engagement.
  • Oversee pre-sale scientific support, including instrument demonstrations and customer training.
  • Collaborate closely with the European business leader to craft and implement strategies that align with revenue goals and market growth.
  • Establish systems and processes that enhance customer satisfaction, ensuring their needs are met at every stage of the sales and support journey.

You Will bring

  • A Bachelor’s or advanced degree in life sciences (e.g., immunology, cell biology, bioscience) with a focus on flow cytometry.
  • In-depth knowledge of flow cytometry and its applications in research and industry.
  • Significant experience in academic research or the biotech industry, with a demonstrated progression in responsibilities.
  • Successful people leadership experience and proven track record in a relevant commercial or scientific setting.
  • Strong understanding of commercial strategy in biotechnology, with the ability to blend technical expertise and business insight.
  • Understanding of the biotech industry’s and academic research commercial landscape and ability to translate technical insights into business growth.
  • Ability to handle complex projects and processes while maintaining a clear vision for future opportunities.
  • A strong collaborator who fosters connections with customers, industry leaders, Sony peers and senior management.
  • Availability to travel up to 50% across Europe
