- Perform data abstraction by capturing complete patient history, diagnosis, staging, and treatment information for cancer registry patients
- Run edits on abstracts and make necessary corrections to ensure data accuracy
- Stay updated on changes to industry guidelines and standards related to cancer registry
- Communicate professionally and effectively with customers, managers, and colleagues both orally and electronically
- Participate in Peer Group activities to enhance professional development and collaboration
- Associate's Degree required
- Certified Oncology Data Specialist (ODS) through NCRA is mandatory
- Minimum of one year of cancer registry abstracting experience in a Commission on Cancer (CoC) approved cancer registry
- Knowledge of CR Star and Cerner is preferred
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability in a changing environment
- Experience with CR Star and Cerner systems
- Prior involvement in continuous education related to oncology data specialization
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines effectively
