  • About the Role
  • We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Scientist to join our nanoparticle calibration team within the Air Quality and Aerosol Metrology group. We are a world-leading group dedicated to delivering accurate and traceable measurements of air pollutants and aerosols. Our research drives innovation in measurement techniques that help assess compliance with legislation, guide policy development, and protect public health and the environment. We work closely with industry, government agencies, and research organisations to provide reliable calibration, testing and analysis services using state-of-the-art facilities.

The role involves delivering high-quality measurement services while ensuring adherence to time, cost and quality standards. While experience in air quality is beneficial, it is not essential as full training will be provided.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carrying out the full calibration process from instrument receipt, setup, calibration, data analysis, to certificate production and verification under our quality system.
  • Contributing ideas for continuous improvement of measurement services.
  • Following established Health and Safety protocols, particularly when handling chemicals and radioactive sources.
  • Collaborating with the wider group to solve complex, non-routine calibration challenges in the evolving field of airborne and aerosolised nanoparticles.
  • About You
  • A degree in Science or Engineering or equivalent experience, including laboratory work.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality results.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team.
