The ideal Scientific Advisor candidate will hold a Ph.D. in Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Cellular Biology, Chemistry, or a related field of study. Responsibilities include working with the firm's clients and counsel in all aspects of the patent practice, primarily assisting in litigation support, to include working with expert witnesses and reviewing documents for use in litigation, evaluating invention disclosures, drafting patent specifications and claims, with some emphasis on preparing and prosecuting applications, and technical support on proceedings in the United States Patent and Trademark Office. A candidate should be willing to seek registration as a patent agent with the USPTO. Additionally, and under the supervision of lawyers, the individual will assume significant client responsibilities, provide high-quality services to domestic and foreign clients, and communicate with other practitioners and staff. - Evaluate invention disclosures.
- Draft patent specifications and claims.
- Prepare and prosecute patent applications.
- Provide technical support for proceedings in the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
- Assume significant client responsibilities under the supervision of lawyers.
- Provide high-quality services to domestic and foreign clients.
- Communicate effectively with other practitioners and staff.
- Doctorate degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Cellular Biology, Chemistry, or a related field.
- Strong analytical and research skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, interacting in a professional and courteous manner with clients and colleagues.
- Ability to work both collaboratively within a team and independently with strong organizational and time management skills.
- Willingness to seek registration as a patent agent with the USPTO.

- State of Colorado: $75,000 - $134,000
- State of Illinois: $74,000 - $143,000
- Jersey City, NJ: $89,000 - $161,000
- State of Maryland: $79,000 - $120,000
- State of Massachusetts: $82,000 - $156,000
- State of Minnesota: $82,000 - $135,000
- State of New York: $76,000 - $164,000
- State of Washington: $79,000 - $150,000
- Washington, D.C.: $106,000 - $155,000
