GLOBAL MEDICAL DIRECTOR

What You Will Do

In this vital role the Medical Director is the single point of medical accountability for strategy and external engagement globally. The Medical Director drives the development and execution of product medical strategies to increase Amgens value proposition in alignment with product strategies across relevant geographies.

Key responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the development and execution of the global medical affairs strategy for Obesity and related conditions
  • Serve as the Medical Affairs Representative on various global strategic teams.
  • Shape the global strategic direction for engagement with top global thought leaders
  • Drive engagement excellence with relevant Professional Societies across the globe, with a particular focus on those outside North America
  • Support strategic identification of the next generation of OLs, who will serve as champions to transform patient care and educate and nurture community level HCPs
  • Plan and implement strategic OL engagement at major global congresses
  • Joint owner/ strategic oversight of relationships and interactions with EU key policy groups in partnership with internal government affairs and policy colleagues
  • Joint liaison for external stakeholders who advise us on health technology, value and access in European and similar reimbursed market archetypes
  • Partner with cross-functional colleagues including Commercial, Advocacy, Corporate Affairs and Development on strategy and execution of external engagement plan
  • Capture clinical/scientific insights across all key markets and translate them into concrete strategies.
  • Maintain an active role within TA cross-functional meetings to ensure awareness of potential opportunities for external engagement
  • Ensure conduct of medical activities in full compliance with all laws, regulations, and SOPs.
  • Use global infrastructure for tracking, measuring, and evaluating performance and ensuring continuous performance improvement
  • Contribute to Amgen’s mission of serving patients as the leader in the Obesity space

What We Expect Of You

We are all different, yet we all use our unique contributions to serve patients. What we seek in you as an experienced professional, are these qualifications and skills:

  • Degree educated in relevant field (MD), PhD, or PharmD
  • Extensive external medical engagement experience
  • Experience in congress strategy and executive engagements
  • Skilled at engagement and scientific exchange with external medical community
  • Therapeutic area experience in diabetes/ obesity/ endocrinology
  • Demonstrable ability to work in teams, cross-functionally and independently.
  • Skilled at effectively presenting ideas and documenting complex medical/clinical concepts in both written and oral communication
  • History of solving problems while exhibiting superior judgment and a balanced, realistic understanding of issues
  • Network of medical, clinical contacts in product/therapeutic area

LOCATION Ability to work fully remote, or, if situated near an office, the option to work flexibly from home with occasional office presence at our Cambridge or Uxbridge next-generation workspace.
