As the General Manager, DaVita Clinical Research, a VP-level role, you will have an opportunity to lead DaVita’s Clinical Research team in pursuit of advancing the practice of medicine, shaping the future of kidney care, and pursuing life-enhancing discoveries.

We are a renal research site network with a spectrum of services for clinical drug research and device development. For 30 years we have helped 500+ clients with their development projects. From centralized research services in an integrated, coordinated care delivery model with primary care and multispecialty physicians, we plan and execute trials. As part of a company providing healthcare services to kidney patients, we have first-hand understanding of development challenges and real-world solutions.

In recent years, clinical research is experiencing a revival with large investments from pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies. Private equity has taken notice and invested into traditional and start-up research companies. DCR is the leader in nephrology clinical research. We leverage DaVita’s large provider platform. Recently, DaVita has become a leader in kidney value-based care, positioning DCR as an important part of the future of healthcare. The Vice President/General Manager of DaVita Clinical Research (DCR) is responsible for overseeing the overall operational performance of the clinical research and outcomes research teams including P&L, sales and marketing, finance, compliance, and legal functions. This leader will also drive new strategies to support and grow DaVita’s clinical research capabilities, while ensuring alignment with organizational goals.

This role provides both strategic and tactical leadership, offering guidance to achieve key business objectives and fostering strong, trusting relationships with key stakeholders.

  • Clinical Trials team - assists pharmaceutical and medical device companies in the design, recruitment and completion of clinical trials using its renal research site network. Innovation, as a result of this research, is aimed at improving care and quality of life for people with kidney disease.
  • Outcomes Research team leverages multiple data sources to design retrospective analytic studies and develop modeling tools that provide insights and support to DaVita Kidney Care. Additionally, the team prospectively conducts qualitative studies, which often involves surveying patients, caregivers, and medical professionals, to provide data that may lead to improved patient care and quality of life.

This position is a remote position based anywhere in the US with a travel requirement of 25%

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

The following reflect key responsibilities for this role but are not exhaustive:

  • Develop and formulate strategic plans for the Alliance, Affiliate and Outcomes teams within DaVita Clinical Research
  • Participate and lead in discussions with pharma/biotech entities to procure new business and/or strategic alliances
  • Pursue and close strategic relationships with physician practices, hospitals, and accountable care

organizations to include acquisition, joint venture relationships and other related partnerships consistent with the DaVita Clinical Research mission and the DaVita Code of Conduct and Compliance procedures

  • Lead and execute inorganic growth strategies
  • Responsible for meeting goals established for growth and staying within expense budget
  • Provide leadership and directional support to DaVita Clinical Research Leadership Team and all teammates within org
  • Represent/Liaise on behalf of DaVita Clinical Research with broader DaVita

Minimum Qualifications

The following qualifications are required to fulfill the essential duties:

  • Bachelor’s degree required in relevant field
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in clinical research management and leadership, preferred
  • Proven track record in financial and operational management, with demonstrated fiscal expertise
  • Strong relationship-building skills with a focus on collaboration and a deep appreciation for diverse perspectives and backgrounds
  • Experience with stakeholder engagement and partnership development
  • A strong sense of teamwork and collaboration
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge in renal and clinical research preferred
  • Desire to grow professionally, develop new skills and willingness to work outside of comfort zone.

Salary/ Wage Range

$175,000.00 - $285,000.00 / year

Compensation for the role will depend on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience and may fall outside of the range shown.
