Join the Department of Health’s Office of Immunization as a Senior Health Services Consultant in the Vaccine Management Section. This critical role ensures Washington’s children have timely access to viable vaccines by supporting the Childhood Vaccine Program through accountability, quality assurance, and infrastructure development activities.

You will provide expert consultation and training on vaccine accountability, returns/wastage, inventory management, develop policies and procedures, contribute to quality improvement initiatives and lead communication efforts with providers and stakeholders. Additionally, you will provide technical assistance to providers using the Washington State Immunization Information System.

Key Responsibilities Include

  • Vaccine Accountability and Quality Assurance: Provide expert consultation, training, and support on vaccine accountability, returns/wastage, and inventory management. Conduct assessments of provider offices to ensure compliance and respond to public inquiries on vaccine management.
  • Infrastructure Support for Program Providers: Develop and deliver in-person and online training on vaccine management and the Immunization Information System (IIS).Support tools, policies, and procedures for vaccine ordering and quality assurance.
  • Business Processes and Communication Development: Create and implement vaccine management policies and procedures. Develop and distribute communication materials, including web updates and newsletters. Collaborate with vaccine manufacturers and stakeholders.
  • Future Planning and Quality Improvement: Evaluate technical assistance efforts and track project goals using data analysis. Lead customer satisfaction initiatives and support emergency response activities.

Location and Flexibility

We prioritize work-life balance and offer a primarily remote work environment, complemented by occasional opportunities for in-person collaboration. Any required in-office work or event attendance will be scheduled in advance to ensure convenience. This position is fully remote and open to applicants residing anywhere in Washington State, as well as those living near the Oregon/Washington or Idaho/Washington borders.

Required Qualifications

Experience may have been gained through paid or unpaid activities. Please ensure any relevant experience defined below is outlined in your cover letter, resume, and/or applicant profile.

Option 1: Six (6) years of professional management or consultative experience in a health services program, which includes providing education, consultation, and technical support to health care providers, public health staff, or other professional staff; and demonstrated experience conducting training and creating materials.

Option 2: Bachelor’s degree or higher in Public Health, Health Care Administration, Public/Business Administration, or a related field; AND two (2) years of professional management or consultative experience in a health services program, which includes providing education, consultation, and technical support to health care providers, public health staff, or other professional staff; and demonstrated experience conducting training and creating materials.

Preferred/Desired Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in public health, social and behavioral science, public administration, health communication, health education or promotion, or closely allied field.
  • One (1) year of professional experience working in a state or local immunization public health program.
  • One (1) year of professional experience developing and implementing quality assurance strategies.

Conditions Of Employment

This position is covered by a bargaining unit for which the Washington Federation of State Employees (WFSE).

  • Engage in emergency response exercises and high-priority assignments as assigned during emergency events.
