Job Description
We are looking to recruit a talented bioinformatician to join our growing bioinformatics team. As a bioinformatic scientist, you will apply your expertise in programming, data science, and pipeline development across a wide range of projects to support and accelerate Insmed Innovation UK’s drug discovery and development programmes.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
- Be a contributor in a dynamic multidisciplinary team, designing and maintaining critical bioinformatic tools and pipelines.
- Provide analytical and statistical rigour to empower better decision making during experimental design.
- Act as a subject expert, working with scientists and project leads to leverage existing bioinformatic resources to facilitate data driven science.
- Promote data integrity by employing current Insmed best practices for data handling and storage, to empower broadscale analyses.
- Liaise with internal and external collaborators.
Qualifications and other requirements
Required:
- A post-graduate degree (or equivalent experience) in bioinformatics, biology, genetics, medicine, machine learning, statistics, computer science or a similar area
- A keen interest in bioinformatics or computational biology and a passion for developing flexible solutions to complex problems.
- Experience working with and analysing NGS data
- Confident coding in python and using common third-party python libraries (numpy, scipy, pandas, ...etc).
- Experience presenting findings to non-experts
- A good understanding of statistics and their application across a range of data types.
- Experience with git version control, preferably with familiarity of branching and merging
