Job Description
We are looking to recruit a talented bioinformatician to join our growing bioinformatics team. As a bioinformatic scientist, you will apply your expertise in programming, data science, and pipeline development across a wide range of projects to support and accelerate Insmed Innovation UK’s drug discovery and development programmes.


Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities
  • Be a contributor in a dynamic multidisciplinary team, designing and maintaining critical bioinformatic tools and pipelines.
  • Provide analytical and statistical rigour to empower better decision making during experimental design.
  • Act as a subject expert, working with scientists and project leads to leverage existing bioinformatic resources to facilitate data driven science.
  • Promote data integrity by employing current Insmed best practices for data handling and storage, to empower broadscale analyses.
  • Liaise with internal and external collaborators.


Qualifications and other requirements

Required:
  • A post-graduate degree (or equivalent experience) in bioinformatics, biology, genetics, medicine, machine learning, statistics, computer science or a similar area
  • A keen interest in bioinformatics or computational biology and a passion for developing flexible solutions to complex problems.
  • Experience working with and analysing NGS data
  • Confident coding in python and using common third-party python libraries (numpy, scipy, pandas, ...etc).
  • Experience presenting findings to non-experts
  • A good understanding of statistics and their application across a range of data types.
  • Experience with git version control, preferably with familiarity of branching and merging
