Job Description
The Role
We are looking for a Part-time Genetic Counselor to join our team to assess patient histories, interpret genetic test results, and provide individualized guidance and advice to individuals and families to help them make decisions about their health and well-being. The successful candidate must possess a broad knowledge of genetics, including prenatal, cancer, and clinical genetics.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of patient histories and family medical records to identify potential genetic risks.
- Interpret genetic test results and explain their implications to patients and family members.
- Develop and provide patient-specific education regarding genetic conditions and treatments.
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare providers to develop treatment plans and referrals.
- Provide individualized counseling and support to patients and family members on genetic conditions and health-related issues.
- Maintain accurate records of patient assessments, testing, and treatments.
Ideal Profile
- Master's degree in Genetic Counseling from an accredited program.
- Licensure or certification as a Genetic Counselor in the state of practice.
- 2+ years of experience as a Genetic Counselor.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated knowledge of genetics and genetic counseling modalities.
- Able to work collaboratively and independently.
